The best AI image generators available right now

barack obama ai image

From Pope Francis in a puffer jacket to Wes Anderson-inspired movie trailers, AI-generated images have become increasingly common on the Internet. It’s not hard to see why — modern AI tools have become so convincing that their images have even won prestigious photography awards. You don’t have to be a talented artist or photographer to generate beautiful art either. If you’ve ever used a chatbot like ChatGPT or Bing Chat, you’ll feel right at home using any one of the best AI image generators.

In order to generate an AI image, all you need is a text prompt that describes the scene you have in mind. For example, I used the prompt “Golden hour New York City skyline with towering skyscrapers and bustling streets” in one of the images below. Your imagination can go much wilder, though, with detailed prompts that specify each and every intricate detail.

  • The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 design is shown in some new high-quality CAD-based renders.
  • The phone appears to have an enormous cover display and squared-off sides.
  • Other upgrades this year will likely be internal.

Today, we have our first good look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 design (via Media Peanut). Although we’ve seen hints of a redesign through the rumor mill, these are the first high-quality and reliable renders we’ve found.

I still don’t want a foldable phone

Opinion post by
C. Scott Brown

Earlier this year, I revisited the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, catching up with the phone six months after its release to see how things have held up. In that re-review, I gave the Z Fold 4 lots of praise. I even argued that, objectively, it is the best foldable phone you can buy today.

However, I must be honest: Once I was done with the Galaxy Z Fold 4, I put it back into storage. Despite being the best example of a foldable phone available, I still don’t want to use it daily. I’ve come to the conclusion that, for now, I have no interest in using foldable phones. Even when I have one for free, I’d rather not use it, to say nothing about actually spending my own money on one.

I tested dozens of smart home devices; this is the feature I loathe the most

Xiaomi Mi 360 security camera and Nanoleaf Canvas box behind a smartphone showing an error when connecting to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network.
Credit: Rita El Khoury / Android Authority

You may have run into this when setting up a new smart home product: You’ve installed its companion app, created an account, plugged in the gadget, and you’re all ready to go until you realize it won’t connect to your Wi-Fi. What’s happening? You restart the app, the phone, your router, and try all kinds of other tricks to no avail. The app refuses to see or connect to your network. In some cases, you’re not given the courtesy of an error message; in others, developers are kind enough to point out the issue: 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

The first time this happened to me, I was setting up the $1400 Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. An eye-watering price didn’t save this robot vacuum from having a cheap Wi-Fi chip, and I was left wondering if it would ever work on my dual-band router or I’d have to return it. (Spoiler: it works, but that requires workarounds that I’ll get to later.)

My earbuds kept falling out, until they grew wings

Opinion post by
Lily Katz

Today, earbuds seem more about gadgetry and software than nailing the basics. Newfangled features place you in the center of your favorite movies, and adjust sound settings based on your location. It’s impressive, sure. But the software magic means nothing if I can’t get my earbuds to fit or stay in place. After over a decade of reviewing earphones, it’s clear that earbuds with wings offer more stability and a better fit than non-winged buds.

Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe review: Places to go, tech to pack

Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe review: At a glance

  • What is it? The Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe is a lightweight, foldable, multi-device wireless charging pad designed for portability. It is compatible with Apple’s iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods.
  • What is the price? The Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe is priced at $149.95 in the US, £169.95 in the UK, and €179.95 elsewhere in Europe.
  • Where can you buy it? While other models are available from more retailers, this specific charger is available exclusively at the Apple store.
  • How did we test it? I tested the Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe for one week. I used it to charge my Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Ultra, and iPhone. The review unit was supplied by Mophie.
  • Is it worth it? The Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger is a solid wireless charging pad for Apple products if your priority is packability. The folding design is ideal for travel and the included carrying case keeps the charger organized on the go. It is not, however, the best all-around multi-device charger available for Apple devices.

Within the realm of tech, there are few topics I lament more than the dismal battery specs that haunt the Apple Watch. Eight generations in, Apple has yet to surpass its 18-hour claim (which, fortunately, is really more like 24 hours in hand). Gimmicks are dead — just make a good phone

Galaxy vs Pixel vs iPhone EoY 2022
Credit: Robert Triggs / Android Authority
Opinion post by
C. Scott Brown

Ten years ago, the 2013 Samsung Galaxy S4 was a technological marvel. Android phones had only been around for a few years at that point, and the Galaxy S4 seemed like it could do so much despite its small size. As consumers, we were enraptured. So much so that the Galaxy S4 remains to this day the best-selling Android phone of all time, with more than 80 million units sold.

However, that was ten years ago — an eternity in the tech world. Things have changed significantly since then. The smartphone gimmicks we saw in the Galaxy S4 — such as Smart Scroll, which allowed you to scroll the contents of your screen by moving your head up or down — would be downright ludicrous to see in a 2023 phone.
