In a surprise move, Google rolled out the Android 14 QPR1 beta before launching the stable version of Android 14. Those who have installed the beta on their Pixel phone are now running into a bug that’s affecting their ability to use Google Wallet.

As discovered by 9to5Google, Google Wallet on the Android 14 QPR1 beta is having an issue with security. When the app is opened, users see a pop-up message that says their device doesn’t meet the security requirements necessary for Google Wallet. Although the issue affects all Pixel phone versions running QPR1, not everyone is experiencing the bug.

Google is really out for Apple’s blood with this latest video attacking iMessage

Google has been pushing Apple to adopt Rich Communication Services or RCS, a messaging standard that would end the green bubble nonsense and allow Android users to chat with Apple users using modern messaging features. Last year, Google launched a whole website so that Apple “Gets the message” and adopts RCS, but the iMessage maker remains unphased by Google’s relentless jibes. Launching another attack, Google has now released a video that equates Apple’s messaging standards to those from the pager days.

The video shows a made-up device called iPager, which, Google says, “uses outdated messaging tech, like Apple uses when texting with Android.” The company calls Apple out for the lack of innovation and says it’s causing “modern technology nightmares.”

Lawsuit claims Google Maps caused man to drive off a collapsed bridge

Google Maps is a helpful app that can usually get you from point A to point B quickly and safely. However, Google Maps didn’t work the way it was meant to for one North Carolina man. A family is now suing Google for an unspecified amount in punitive damages. The lawsuit claims the navigation app led the father to his death by instructing him to drive through a route with a collapsed bridge.

As reported by CNN, the lawsuit says Philip Paxton was driving home from his daughter’s 9th birthday party late at night in September 2022. Using the Google Maps app, he was directed to drive through an unmarked and unbarricaded bridge that had collapsed back in 2013.
